Community Futures 2017 Awards

Please submit your award nominations by July 31, 2017.

Al McCracken Memorial Award Recognize an outstanding Volunteer by nominating them for this award.  Nominee should be a current of immediate past director or committee member and have shown an outstanding and ongoing volunteer effort to Community Futures.  

Don McMillan Memorial Award  Recognize a CED Hero in your office, Outstanding contribution, promoting and encouraging partnering with other groups, successful CED initiatives, promoting CED or contribution to CED Training.

Investment Fund Portfolio Award  Bragging rights in the Network, plus a Trophy to keep for a year.  Complete the application to see if you have the best performing portfolio in BC.

Best Practices Award Are you managing change and innovation with improvements that are notable?  Would you like to be recognized for your hard work?  

CFBC Award of Excellence and Innovation  Would you like to promote an initiative that you've been working on province wide?  Can it be transferable to other CF locations? Has it been around for more than a year?

CFBC AGM 2017

The Community Futures British Columbia AGM on September 15, 2017, will be held at the Theatre Royal in Barkerville, and we will have elections for one (1) Volunteer Board Member position, as well as one (1) General Manager Representative.  

  • Wendy Smitka, Past Chair, will be stepping down after six years on the CFBC Board. She is currently the President of Community Futures National Canada, a member of Community Futures Pan West, and is Past Chair of Community Futures Central Island. Wendy’s volunteer contribution to CFBC has been invaluable, and her enthusiasm for Community Futures is shown in everything she does.
  • Kevin Dorrius, General Managers’ Representative, has completed one two year term and if he should be nominated and re-elected, would be eligible to serve one additional two year term.

Nominations are to be submitted by midnight August 18, 2017 for inclusion in the Nomination Package and for circulation prior to the AGM.  No written nominations after August 18 will be accepted, however, there will be three calls for nominations from the floor at the AGM.
