Who is Eligible?

Community organizations, associations, private companies and government at all levels are encouraged to work with their local Community Futures to develop project ideas. Projects must have a broad impact and involve active partners with a stake in the growth and prosperity of their community.

To be eligible for REDI-BC funding, a project must focus on Rural Diversification which can include one or more of the following strategic areas:

  1. Technology Commercialization - Projects that assist in turning an entrepreneurial idea into a viable business success or projects moving from the R&D stage into a commercial business opportunity with commercial applications and potential.
  2. Trade and Investment - Projects that improve international competitiveness, strengthen trade and economic corridors, enhance SME participation in international business development, or encourage investment attraction. This includes export development, developing new markets in targeted sectors like procurement, branding and attracting customers/visitors from areas outside of the region.
  3. Business Productivity and Competitiveness - Projects that enhance labour force attraction, adoption/adaptation of technology to improve productivity, cluster development, improved access to information, or shared equipment/services through a business incubator-type project. Value-added products and lean manufacturing opportunities fit into this category.
