With the goal of serving the membership and leading the network, Community Futures British Columbia staff work to advance the priorities of the BC Community Futures network.
Executive Director - Marie Gallant
As the Executive Director of Community Futures British Columbia, Marie Gallant leads a member driven association, which services the 34 Community Futures Development Corporations across BC.
Marie first became involved in the Community Futures Program as a volunteer and Board member for the Community Futures Development Corporation of Fraser Fort George in Prince George, BC. As her passion for the Community Futures program and her belief in it’s values grew, she decided to refocus her career from banking and commercial lending to community economic development within the Community Futures network. During the past nine years, Marie has worked for the Community Futures Development Corporation of Haida Gwaii on the Queen Charlotte Islands, and as General Manager of Tawatinaw Community Futures in Westlock, Alberta.
Marie now works with her volunteer Board to support the BC Community Futures members and lead the network in BC. Marie also sits as a member of Pan West Community Futures and Pan Canadian Community Futures.
Investment Fund Manager - Rich Goulet
Since March 2001, Rich Goulet has been contracted to work with Community Futures British Columbia to manage blocks of capital used to support the small business lending activities of the 34 Community Futures in BC.
He joined the Community Futures British Columbia after a 31-year career in the financial, training and counseling divisions of the Business Development Bank of Canada, retiring as a Vice President in 2001. While working with the Bank, Rich also participated in many community initiatives, including President of a Chamber of Commerce in the BC interior, and a member and director of several other Chambers, Rotary clubs, and sports organizations throughout BC.
Acting on a part time basis for the Community Futures, Rich and his partner currently fills their time with the operation of a Nanaimo Bed & Breakfast
Admininstrative Assistant / Reception - Clare Empey

Clare joined the Community Futures team in April 2009. With over 10 years experience in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, Clare's administrative and organizational skills keep the office operations and communications running smoothly. |
Project/Communications Manager - Tracey Axelsson

As Projects/Communications Manager, Tracey Axelsson is responsible for the development and delivery of projects including the Small Business Internship Program, providing staff support to a variety of Community Futures committees as well as internal and external communications services including the newsletter and website.These are great uses of her talents as Tracey is a business leader who has relied heavily on these skills. She previously developed two successful social enterprises for which she was honoured with a variety of business and Community Economic Development awards. |
REDI-BC Regional Project Manager - Cordelia Williams PMP
In her role as Regional Project Manager for REDI-BC, Cordelia oversees the development and implementation of rural economic initiatives, which support diversification, competiveness and build on community strengths.
Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program (EDP) Provincial Coordinator- Garry Angus
As Provincial Coordinator for the Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program, Garry supports the individual Community Futures offices in delivering the program. Garry serves the Community Futures membership as their “in-house” resource person as they assist entrepreneurs with disabilities or chronic health conditions take their business plans from paper to practice. His work in healthcare and with disability organisations has armed him with a depth of understanding and resources for this purpose.
