Programs for Entrepreneurs

In fiscal 2009/10, the BC Community Futures Program disbursed 644 loans, totaling $33 million and leveraging an additional $42 million, creating and maintaining 2,485 jobs. An additional 2,577 jobs were impacted through other services. This represents a 19% increase in job impacted in one year.

Since fiscal 2005/2006, through to the second quarter of 2009/2010, Community Futures in British Columbia disbursed 2,940 loans, totaling $139.8 million, creating or maintaining 9254 jobs, and leveraging an additional $204.7 million.

As of September 2009, Community Futures in BC has grown and leveraged the federal government’s original contribution to our lending pool of $64.7 million to an impressive $133.6 million.

The range and magnitude of programs previously and currently managed by the Community Futures Network vary widely, from business development loans to entrepreneurial training to supports and services designed to address issues impacting rural communities at a local level. The diversity of programs and projects undertaken by the network is in direct response to the diversity of needs in rural BC. It is our connection to rural communities and our track record of successfully delivering initiatives that has lead the Community Futures Network in BC to be uniquely positioned to deliver future programs and services.
