Self-Employment Programs

The Self-Employment Benefits program is offered at many BC Community Futures locations thanks to funding provided by Service Canada. Participants in the Self-Employment program receive business training and access to financial assistance while getting their new business up and running. The program is designed to reduce some of the financial concerns of self-support for new entrepreneurs who are taking their first step towards self-employment.

To qualify for the Self-Employment program you must:

  1. have a viable business idea,
  2. and either;
    a) be currently receiving Employment Insurance, [or]
    b) have had a regular Employment Insurance claim within the past three years, [or]
    c) have had either a maternity or parental Employment Insurance claim within the past five years.
