About CFBD
History of CFBD
The Community Futures Board Development is an initiative of the Community Futures
Pan West, which is made up of four
Western Associations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and
Manitoba. In 1999 the Pan West recognized the need to have sound, and
confident Boards Members to lead the Community Futures.
The Credit Union Institute of Canada partnered with the Community Futures West
to develop and implement Board Governance Training
Modules. The four latest modules have been released in 2003.
Under the direction of a professional facilitator, Community Futures Board
Members and Managers can now access a modular series of eleven
informative sessions, packed with useful information, tools and tips
every Community Futures Board Member and Manager should use.
Board Members and Managers will learn about:
- Community Futures services, programs and alliances
- Board Member roles; leadership, teamwork, and accountability
- The importance of Strategic Planning, visioning and goal
planning
- Useful development strategy; recruitment, orientation &
evaluation
- Financial management and the legal framework
We would like to thank all the dedicated volunteers from
across the west who have assisted and continue to assist in the creation of the CFBD Program.
