Community Futures 2018 Awards

Now is the time to submit your nominations for the CF Provincial Awards, for presentation at the Gala Event at the 2018 Conference in Merritt.

Does someone you know deserve an award for their outstanding commitment to CF in BC, or has your office made a significant contribution to the local community and/or to the Network as a whole?

NEW – Partnership Award

Partnerships between Community Futures offices and other organizations or corporations, can be creative and powerful opportunities for advancing the economic development and sustainability of a specific location or region. This award recognizes such partnerships that have demonstrated impact and helped support a community’s development.

Al McCracken Memorial Award – Provincial Volunteer Award of the Year

Would you like to nominate your local volunteer of the year for the provincial volunteer award? Or do you have someone else that you’d like to nominate? The Al McCracken Memorial Award is presented to an outstanding individual who has offered their business skills and development expertise; continually making incredible contributions to the Community Futures Network. Don McMillan Memorial Award – Award for Outstanding Contribution to CED

This award is for a CF Staff member or volunteer, or group of staff members or volunteers. They must have shown an impact on CED in the Network by development of a program, partnering with community social development agencies, or other contribution to CED. Click here for the nomination form

Investment Fund Portfolio award – CF demonstrating a robust Investment Portfolio with significant Growth

Do you have community accessible loan fund that assists in the expansion or new and innovative businesses across all sectors and stages? Has your fund shown significant growth over the past year?

Award for Excellence and Innovation – Award for a Unique Initiative, Project or Loan

This award can gain your initiative province-wide visibility and recognition as a successful practice. The initiative must demonstrate relevance to the economic goals (with a proven track record) be transferrable to another CF location, and have a measurable impact. Click here for a nomination form

The Community Futures British Columbia AGM on September 13, 2018 will be held at the Civic Centre in Merritt, and we will have elections for three (3) Volunteer Board Member positions, as well as two (2) General Manager Representatives.  

  • Bob Annis, Chair, will be stepping down after five years on the CFBC Board, since his term on the CF Cowichan Board is at an end.
  • Wendy Prystay, Treasurer, will be stepping down after 6 years on the CFBC Board. She is the current chair of CF Pacific Northwest
  • Mike Guarnery, Vice-Chair, and Director of CF East Kootenay, will have completed one three-year term and if he should be nominated and re-elected, would be eligible to serve one additional three-year term.
  • Susan Stearns, General Managers’ Representative, and General Manager of CF Fraser Fort George will have completed two two-year terms and will be stepping down from the Board.
  • Andrea Wilkey, General Managers’ Representative, and General Manager of CF Central Kootenay, will have completed one two year term and if she should be nominated and re-elected, would be eligible to serve one additional two year term.

Nominations are to be submitted by midnight August 17, 2018 for inclusion in the Nomination Package and for circulation prior to the AGM.  No written nominations after August 17 will be accepted, however, there will be three calls for nominations from the floor at the AGM.
