QuirkNSpite: Humour Through Adversity

VANCOUVER - Cassandra Frechette is a resilient entrepreneur based in Vancouver. At the age of 37, Cassandra was diagnosed with ADHD and CPTSD which prompted her to explore a new path to prioritize her mental well-being. Hoping for a way to blend her creativity and sense of humour, Cassandra started QuirkNSpite, an online retail space.

Originally from Toronto, Cassandra moved to British Columbia in 2018 to continue her work in the film and television industry where she has found success as a script supervisor and director. At the age of 37, Cassandra was diagnosed with ADHD and CPTSD which prompted her to explore a new path to prioritize her mental well-being. Hoping for a way to blend her creativity and sense of humour, Cassandra started QuirkNSpite, an online retail space that carries a mix of products including clothing, stationary, accessories, and home decor. A self-described “creator/artist/weirdo,” Cassandra’s shop is sure to put a smile on her shoppers’ faces with her unique, and sometimes provocative, pieces.

How EDP Helped

CFBC’s Entrepreneurs With Disabilities Program provided Cassandra with the resources and support needed to start and grow her business. Cassandra worked with a CFBC Business Coach to make sense of her vision and transform her dream into actionable steps. Cassandra credits the program with giving her the confidence and the tools to sustain her business, especially during challenging times.

What’s Next?

Busier than ever, Cassandra continues to run QuirkNSpite and adds new products to her item line regularly. When she isn’t crafting new items for her shop, Cassandra is creating YouTube videos, writing blog posts, and continuing her work in the film and television industry.
