Self Employment Program

Self Employment Program

The Self Employment Program provides financial assistance to eligible applicants who want to start their own business or purchase an existing business, in which they have had no prior ownership.  The program provides income support, business plan development support, a variety of business skills development workshops, one-on-one mentoring, business counseling, collaboration with peers and experiential learning in hands-on workshops.

To get started:

For individuals who are Employment Insurance or Reachback eligible, you will require a referral from WorkBC to pursue the Self Employment Program.  Contact WorkBC, meet with an Employment Counselor and attend a Self Employment Orientation Session.

If suitable and eligible, following the Orientation Session, you will be referred to the organization that provides the Self Employment Program in your area.  The Self Employment program is provided by some Community Futures offices in rural BC.  If you are not located in rural BC, the Self Employment Program will be provided by another organization.  You will receive that information with your referral from Work BC.
